Der erste Selbstversuch aus der Islay-Collection fand hier mit dem hellfarbigen, zwölfjährigen Single Malt Whisky Caol Ila aus dem schottischen Port Askaig statt. Unsere ersten Laienassoziationen waren rauchig und würzig. Sowohl im Geruch, als auch im Geschmack – nachdem das nicht unangenehme Brennen des Alkoholgehalts von 43% wärmend vom Mund gen Bauch zog.
Offiziell heißt es:
Aroma: Angenehmer Torfrauch, salzige Frische.
Geschmack: Frische Seeluft, trocken, rauchig und würzig, Süße. Sehr langer Abgang.

Not easy to find, Caol Ila`s secret malt is nontheless highly prized among devotees of the Islay style.
